Isn't that interesting?:
The Pentium bug was found in October 1994 by Thomas Nicely,
a mathematician from Lynchburgh College, Virginia. He found that one divided
by 824,633,702,441 give the wrong answer. This bug eventually cost Intel
over half a billion dollars, as they offered to replace bug-ridden Pentiums
with correctly operating ones.
Microprocessor basics
Superscalar.
A processor that can execute more than one instruction, at a time.
Very
Long Instruction Word (VLIW). Instructions which
include more than one operation, which are to be executed concurrently.
This can be achieved with a fixed number of operations per instruction,
or with a variable number of operations (Variable Length Instruction
Grouping or Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC)).
Stack
Frame. A stack segment which contains
parameters, local variables, previous stack frame pointer and return
address, created when calling a subprogram (such as a procedure,
a function (which is a procedure which returns a value), or a method
(function or procedure which can access private data in an object).
