Research
is so important to health and well-being to a university. A quote from the Times
highlights this [link]:
"The quality of a university's
research profile is important not just for
its academic credibility, but also to its
undergraduates. Work taking place at research
level may seem remote to first-year students
entering higher education, but it often has
a fundamental bearing on the quality of teaching
they will experience".
Objectives
To
investigate enhancements to, and new applications of, distributed agent-based
systems, especially related to network security, enhanced distribution of information,
user profiling, and user/system authentication.
To research into novel methods
which integrate computing devices with the Internet.
To enhance distributed
protocols and information content by researching into component-based, reusable
elements, which should result in easily reconfigurable, and reuseable distributed
systems.
To enhance the external activities of the group through conference
activities, publishing, MPhil/PhD examinations, and peer review processes.
These
objectives integrate well with the existing groups within the School, and generally
focus on the infrastructure and distribution of resources around networks.
